For the love of raw honey... and why it's good for you
Did you know that raw honey has been used as a medicine since ancient times?
Aside from the delicious taste, raw honey is one of nature’s purest foods and its nutrition profile is impressive. It contains many immune boosting vitamins (including B3, B6, and C), minerals (such as calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium), and dozens of amino acids, powerful antioxidants, enzymes and polyphenols.
Raw honey also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties – and importantly, it does not cause a sugar spike and elevated insulin release like white sugar.
Commercial honey on the other hand, is heavily processed, filtered, and the excessive heat destroys most of the nutritional benefits.
So where do we source our raw honey?
In our Turmeric & Honey Masala Chai we use only raw honey sourced from local growers from Murrumbarrah who have over 200 hives located in National Parks in the heart of NSW, and produce over 30 different natural flavours.
We are proud that the honey we use is totally organic with no heating, no pasteurization, or excessive processing.
It’s pretty clear that including raw honey is a smart move and you can reap some potent medicinal benefits.
In fact, I give my kids a teaspoon of our organic Turmeric & Honey Masala Chai to boost their immune system – straight from the jar! They love it.
The health benefits of our Turmeric & Honey Masala Chai are many – not only do you have the raw honey nutrition but you also have the powerful anti-inflammatory, strong anti-oxidant and other medicinal properties of turmeric.
If you are looking for an alternative to honey (as many of my vegan friends often are), then perhaps the Turmeric & Coconut Nectar Chai is for you. It's derived from pure coconut flowers and has a low glycemic index.
We love this Chai for its deep, malty undertones which is a perfect balance with our hand blended spices and organic turmeric.
